COMPOUNDING/CUTTING
The quick removal of scratches or the removal of paint off a car by using a compounding pad and liquid compound. Liquid compound is a
form of liquid sandpaper and like sandpaper comes in different grits. A Wool Pad, Microfiber Pad or VELOCITY ™ DX Pad that is Designed for compounding/cutting and used with your favorite liquid compound is recommended.
BUFFING (light compounding)
The removal of a thin layer of dull paint created by oxidization, or uneven paint spray that has left bumps or ridges on the surface. The paint has to be smoothed or rubbed out by using liquid compound and a buffing pad. Some buffing chemicals will even put a light shine on the car. Make certain that you use a light compound so that you do not remove too thick of a layer of paint from the car’s finish. One of the
concerns with buffing a car is the creation of heat, which can happen easily with a high-speed machine. Many professionals will tell you
not to put pressure onto the machine while buffing because it can generate heat. The heat generated can cause the two layers of a clear
coat finish to separate, ruining the paint job, or with other types of paint, can completely remove the paint. A Wool Pad, Microfiber Pad or
VELOCITY™ DX Pad that is Designed for buffing and used with your favorite liquid compound is recommended.
POLISHING
This is done prior to waxing. Polish is a rich paint conditioner that restores valuable oils to the paint, eliminates fine scratches, swirls and
imperfections while creating an incredible deep gloss. A Wool Pad, Microfiber Pad or VELOCITY™ DX Pad that is Designed for polishing with your favorite polish is recommended.
WAXING/FINISHING
Wax provides a protective shell over the surface of your car to protect it from the harsh elements of man and nature. It helps deepen and
enhance gloss after polishing. A terry cloth or Foam Orbital Bonnet, Microfiber Pad or VELOCITY™ DX Pad that is designed for waxing/finishing
is recommended.
